According to the story told by Vanguard, Aladi and the man who attacked her had been lovers since secondary school. When she fell pregnant, the couple decided to live together but unfortunately the child died.
Then when they began to have problems, the man married someone else, prompting Aladi to leave the house. The man came begging to have Ladi back but the family told him that he had to marry her in the right way by paying the dowry and having a proper wedding ceremony before she moves in with him.
While they were making wedding preparations, the man rented a house for Ladi, who also managed to get some money to start a fruits shop.
Kareem again decided that he did not want Aladi again and asked her to pack out of the house he rented for her , but Aladi refused. He warned her that if she did't he would spoil her beauty, But Aladi did not take him seriously.
A few weeks ago, Kazeem actually succeeded in spoiling her beauty by coming to her house in the middle of the night and attacked her with acid. Kazeem was arrested but released three days later after his family agreed to pay the medical bills for Aladi who is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, Kogi State.
