Better late than never.
A 91-year-old woman, Ms Luckie and her 103-year-old boyfriend, Kirby will be getting married in June. They will become the world’s oldest newly-weds.
They have been together for 27 years and they have decided to tie the knot now.
And the couple will have a combined age of 194 when they tie the knot on 13 June, making them two of the world’s oldest newly-married couples. The excited bride-to-be said she’s looking for a dress that isn’t ‘too glamorous… just plain and simple.’
‘I’m quite short, so it’s very difficult buying things for short people. So I’ll just have to look around and see what there is,’ she said.
Ms. Luckie said that she was surprised to learn she and her husband could be potential record-breakers.
‘I didn’t think that was possible, because you hear so many people living into their hundreds now, and lots of people in their nineties, I thought “well, we can’t be the only ones”,’ she said.
The couple will marry at the Langham Hotel, where they live in Eastbourne, East Sussex.
Langham Hotel is owned by Kirby's son.
