Better late than never.

A 91-year-old woman, Ms Luckie and her 103-year-old boyfriend, Kirby will  be getting married in June. They will become the world’s oldest newly-weds.

They have been together for 27 years and they have decided to tie the knot now.

Not only will George Kirby become the oldest groom, when he marries 91-year-old Doreen Luckie, the pair will become the oldest newlyweds in history ñ with a combined age of almost 195 YEARS. The loved-up pair, who have been ëliving in siní since 1988, have finally decided to make their union official by giving into pressure from their elderly children ñ after he proposed on Valentineís Day. George, currently 102, will marry for the third time on June 13, when he marries widow Doreen in front of 60 guests. Between the loved-up pair, they have had seven children, 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

And the couple will have a combined age of 194 when they tie the knot on 13 June, making them two of the world’s oldest newly-married couples. The excited bride-to-be said she’s looking for a dress that isn’t ‘too glamorous… just plain and simple.’

‘I’m quite short, so it’s very difficult buying things for short people. So I’ll just have to look around and see what there is,’ she said.

Ms. Luckie said that she was surprised to learn she and her husband could be potential record-breakers.

‘I didn’t think that was possible, because you hear so many people living into their hundreds now, and lots of people in their nineties, I thought “well, we can’t be the only ones”,’ she said.

The couple will marry at the Langham Hotel, where they live in Eastbourne, East Sussex.

Langham Hotel is owned by Kirby's son.
