A pregnant woman was killed by a stray bullet in a clash between members of the Oodua People’s Congress and some alleged pipeline vandals in Arepo, Obafemi Owodi area of Ogun State on Wednesday.
The pregnant woman identified as Mrs Damilola Fajan, who was in a vehicle, was hit by a stray bullet and she died ion the spot and another pedestrian were said to have been killed in the clash, which occurred at about 3pm at Unity Estate.
According to Daily Post report, the clash started on Monday was said to be between some Ijaw youths and OPC members employed by the Federal Government to protect pipelines – The clash however assumed a new dimension on Wednesday as heavy exchange of gunshots was heard leading to residents running indoors for safety.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, comfirnmed the incident saying gunshots were heard but nobody knows exactly who fired the shots.
