Forum commends Buhari on cabinet, warn Igbos against drum of war

A pressure group known as the South West Consultative Forum has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for appointing credible Nigerians to his cabinet, just as it called on him to call for a stop to the drum of war being beaten in the South East.

It particularly thanked Buhari for appointing south-westerners like Mr Babatunde Fashola and Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, to champion the change agenda of the country.

The Forum said it was pleased and full of optimism that they would meet up to the job demand and expectations of Nigerians.

“We are confident that all the ministers will do well in their assigned portfolios, especially The Minister for Power, Housing and Works, and Finance will serve the good people of Nigeria and the south west people”, the Forum said.

In a statement issued and signed by its President, Hon. Osinowo Ibrahim, the Forum, also called on Fashola, Adeosun and other ministers from the South West not to disappoint the people of Nigeria, President Buhari and the international community, by carrying out the task given to them with all seriousness.

Osinowo called on the ministers to serve the interest of all Nigerians and not individuals.

“The South West Consultative Forum strongly believes and passes a vote of confidence in the Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, Alhaji Lai Muhammed, Prof. Isaac Adewole, Dr. Kayode Fayemi and Barrister Bayo Shittu as our trustworthy sons and daughters of Odua and people of the south western part of this country.”

The forum also called on Buhari to call on leaders, indigenes and religious fathers in the South East to call their subjects, especially the youths and sponsors of pro-Biafra group to order, saying that the unity of Nigeria was not for sale to any group.

“We want to assure President Buhari that the South West is fully behind his government and we will do all that is necessary to protect the sovereignty of this country and his administration.

“We also call on Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State and other responsible leaders of the Igbo to continuously provide leadership role and advice the people of the region against precipitating war”, the release said.
