David Rous, 28 and his wife Margaret Ann, 37, who was a doctor, were flying their PA-28 Piper Cherokee plane from Dundee to the Hebridean isle of Tiree when the aircraft flew into a hillside in Argyll on Saturday.
Rescue crews were dispatched after the plane disappeared off radar around 1.50pm.
Later than evening, their bodies were discovered in the wreckage in Beinn nan Lus, Glen Kinglas.
The loss of contact had prompted a multi-emergency response involving the police, ambulance service and the coastguard.
The couple, who lived in Newport-on-Tay in Fife, were reportedly heading from Dundee to visit relatives on the when tragedy hit.
Dr Rous’ sister Johann Maclean paid tribute to her in a message posted on Facebook.
